Welcome to the web site of the "Young Demography" research group of the
German Demography Association (DGD) e.V.
The aim of the research group is to advance young population scientists and to encourage national and international collaboration
in the interdisciplinary field of demography.
This website provides information about the research group's key activities which include the following:
- To organise annual meetings in alternating co-operation with universities and scientific institutes.
- To establish research networks for Ph.D.-students, postgraduates and post-docs in the demographic field.
- To strengthen the interdisciplinary aspect of demographic research.
- To provide general information for people interested in demography and what's going on in that scientific discipline such as publications, job offers, proposals, links etc.
New: Our next autumn meeting will be held from October 9 - 10 2008 in Nuremberg (see Call for Papers, Programme).
February 25 - 26 2009 will be the symposium 'Demographic change and its challenges for economic policy' of the research group "Young Demography" in Berlin (see Call for Papers). More...
From 18th until 19th of October 2007, the first symposium of the research group took place in the beautiful city of
Rostock (in collaboration with the
University of Rostock and the
Rostocker Zentrum zur Erforschung des demografischen Wandels).
Please take a look at the programme.
The symposium was held along with the symposium of the DGD-research group "Demographic Methods".
You don't necessarily need to be an official member of the group to make full use of the main contents of this page.
However, the criterion to become a member of the Young Demographers is to be a member of the
DGD.
If you are not already a member of the DGD, please consider joining. You will also contribute towards a more vibrant community of young demographers in Germany/Europe, and a more informed, intelligent and sensible public debate about demographic changes, its causes, implications and dynamics in contemporary Germany/Europe.
Information on DGD membership is available on www.demographie-online.de
We very much look forward to hearing from you!
