Spring Meeting 2009 on February 26 - 27, Berlin
On February 26 - 27 2009 our spring symposium on 'DEMOGRAPHIC CHANGE AND ITS CHALLENGES FOR ECONOMIC POLICY' took place at the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology in Berlin. The jointly organized meeting aimed at examining and discussing national as well as international perspectives on economic policy options relating to the demographic development. Moreover, long-term and sustainable strategies for a successful coping with the demographic challenges have been considered. The highly interdisciplinary meeting was attended by researchers as well as economists, delegates from political foundations, the departments from Bund and Länder and journalists. Latest insights into the relationship between the demographic change and employee-/skill shortages, its impact on the international competitiveness and necessary adjustment options – especially on firm lever – have been presented during the two-day meeting.
